Dutiyajanasutta
Gives Birth (2nd) Produces (2)
“Kiṁsu janeti purisaṁ,
“What gives birth to a person?
“What is it that produces a person?
kiṁsu tassa vidhāvati;
What do they have that runs about?
What does he have that runs around?
Kiṁsu saṁsāramāpādi,
What enters transmigration?
What enters upon saṁsara?
kismā na parimuccatī”ti.
From what are they not free?”
From what is he not yet freed?”
“Taṇhā janeti purisaṁ,
“Craving gives birth to a person.
“Craving is what produces a person;
cittamassa vidhāvati;
Their mind is what runs about.
His mind is what runs around;
Satto saṁsāramāpādi,
A sentient being enters transmigration.
A being enters upon saṁsara;
dukkhā na parimuccatī”ti.
From suffering they are not free.”
He is not freed from suffering. ”
