Sāvatthinidānaṁ.
At Sāvatthī.

Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho vacchagotto paribbājako bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:
Then the wanderer Vacchagotta said to the Buddha:

“ko nu kho, bho gotama, hetu, ko paccayo, yānimāni anekavihitāni diṭṭhigatāni loke uppajjanti—
“What is the cause, Mister Gotama, what is the reason why these various misconceptions arise in the world? …”

sassato lokoti vā, asassato lokoti vā …pe…

neva hoti na na hoti tathāgato paraṁ maraṇāti vā”ti?

“Rūpe kho, vaccha, adassanā …pe…
“Vaccha, it is because of not seeing form …”

rūpanirodhagāminiyā paṭipadāya adassanā …pe…

vedanāya …
“… feeling …”

saññāya …
