Girimānandattheragāthā

Girimānanda

“Vassati devo yathā sugītaṁ,
The sky-god rains like a sweet song;

Channā me kuṭikā sukhā nivātā;
my little hut is roofed and pleasant, <j>sheltered from the wind;

Tassaṁ viharāmi vūpasanto,
I meditate there, peaceful:

Atha ce patthayasī pavassa deva.
so rain, sky-god, if you wish.

Vassati devo yathā sugītaṁ,
The sky-god rains like a sweet song;

Channā me kuṭikā sukhā nivātā;
my little hut is roofed and pleasant, <j>sheltered from the wind;

Tassaṁ viharāmi santacitto,
I meditate there, my mind at peace:

Atha ce patthayasī pavassa deva.
so rain, sky-god, if you wish.

Vassati devo,
The sky-god rains like a sweet song;

… pe …
my little hut is roofed and pleasant, <j>sheltered from the wind;

tassaṁ viharāmi vītarāgo,
I meditate there, free of greed:

… pe …
so rain, sky-god, if you wish.

Vassati devo,
The sky-god rains like a sweet song;

… pe …
my little hut is roofed and pleasant, <j>sheltered from the wind;

tassaṁ viharāmi vītadoso,
I meditate there, free of hate:

… pe …
so rain, sky-god, if you wish.

Vassati devo,
The sky-god rains like a sweet song;

… pe …
my little hut is roofed and pleasant, <j>sheltered from the wind;

tassaṁ viharāmi vītamoho,
I meditate there, free of delusion:

Atha ce patthayasī pavassa devā”ti.
so rain, sky-god, if you wish.
