Assājānīyasutta A Thoroughbred

ā€œPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, aį¹…gehi samannāgato raƱƱo bhadro assājānÄ«yo rājāraho hoti rājabhoggo, raƱƱo aį¹…gantveva saį¹…khaį¹ gacchati. ā€œMendicants, a fine royal thoroughbred with five factors is worthy of a king, fit to serve a king, and is considered a factor of kingship.

Katamehi paƱcahi? What five?

Ajjavena, javena, maddavena, khantiyā, soraccenaā€”Integrity, speed, gentleness, patience, and sweetness.

imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi aį¹…gehi samannāgato raƱƱo bhadro assājānÄ«yo rājāraho hoti rājabhoggo, raƱƱo aį¹…gantveva saį¹…khaį¹ gacchati. A fine royal thoroughbred with these five factors is worthy of a king. ā€¦

Evamevaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu āhuneyyo hoti pāhuneyyo dakkhiį¹‡eyyo aƱjalikaraį¹‡Ä«yo anuttaraį¹ puƱƱakkhettaį¹ lokassa. In the same way, a mendicant with five qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.
