Appasādapavedanīyasutta A Proclamation of No Confidence

ā€œAį¹­į¹­hahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgatassa bhikkhuno ākaį¹…khamānā upāsakā appasādaį¹ pavedeyyuį¹. ā€œMendicants, the lay followers may, if they wish, make a proclamation of no confidence in a mendicant who has eight qualities.

GihÄ«naį¹ alābhāya parisakkati, gihÄ«naį¹ anatthāya parisakkati, gihÄ« akkosati paribhāsati, gihÄ« gihÄ«hi bhedeti, buddhassa avaį¹‡į¹‡aį¹ bhāsati, dhammassa avaį¹‡į¹‡aį¹ bhāsati, saį¹…ghassa avaį¹‡į¹‡aį¹ bhāsati, agocare ca naį¹ passanti. They try to prevent the lay people from getting material things. They try to harm lay people. They insult and abuse lay people. They divide lay people against each other. They criticize the Buddha, the teaching, and the Saį¹…gha. Theyā€™re seen at an inappropriate place for collecting alms.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, aį¹­į¹­hahi dhammehi samannāgatassa bhikkhuno ākaį¹…khamānā upāsakā appasādaį¹ pavedeyyuį¹. The lay followers may, if they wish, make a proclamation of no confidence in a mendicant who has these eight qualities.

They donā€™t try to prevent the lay people from getting material things. They donā€™t try to harm lay people. They donā€™t insult and abuse lay people.
