ā€œPurimā, bhikkhave, koį¹­i na paƱƱāyati bhavataį¹‡hāya: ā€˜ito pubbe bhavataį¹‡hā nāhosi, atha pacchā samabhavÄ«ā€™ti. ā€œMendicants, it is said that no first point of craving for continued existence is evident, before which there was no craving for continued existence, and afterwards it came to be.

EvaƱcetaį¹, bhikkhave, vuccati, atha ca pana paƱƱāyati: ā€˜idappaccayā bhavataį¹‡hāā€™ti. And yet it is evident that there is a specific condition for craving for continued existence.
