Getting Old
“Kiṁsu ajarasā sādhu,
“What’s good because it never gets old?
“What is good by not decaying?
kiṁsu sādhu adhiṭṭhitaṁ;
What's good when committed?
What is good when made secure?
Kiṁsu narānaṁ ratanaṁ,
What is people’s treasure?
What is the precious gem of humans?
kiṁsu corehyahāriyan”ti.
What can thieves never take?”
What cannot be stolen by thieves?”
“Sīlaṁ ajarasā sādhu,
“Ethics are good because they never grow old.
“Virtue is good by not decaying;
saddhā sādhu adhiṭṭhitā;
Faith is good when committed.
Faith is good when made secure;
Paññā narānaṁ ratanaṁ,
Wisdom is people’s treasure.
Wisdom is the precious gem of humans;
puññaṁ corehyahāriyan”ti.
Merit’s what thieves can never take.”
Merit cannot be stolen by thieves. ”
