“Upasame tare oghaṁ,
“Upasamā, pass over the flood,
Upasamā, cross the flood,
maccudheyyaṁ suduttaraṁ;
the sphere of death so difficult to cross.
Death’s domain so hard to pass.
Dhārehi antimaṁ dehaṁ,
Carry your last body,
When you have vanquished Māra and his mount,
jetvā māraṁ savāhinin”ti.
having conquered Māra and his army.”
