āYe hi keci, bhikkhave, samaį¹Ä vÄ brÄhmaį¹Ä vÄ saddhindriyaį¹ nappajÄnanti, saddhindriyasamudayaį¹ nappajÄnanti, saddhindriyanirodhaį¹ nappajÄnanti, saddhindriyanirodhagÄminiį¹ paį¹ipadaį¹ nappajÄnanti; āMendicants, there are ascetics and brahmins who donāt understand the faculty of faith, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation.

na me te, bhikkhave, samaį¹Ä vÄ brÄhmaį¹Ä vÄ samaį¹esu vÄ samaį¹asammatÄ brÄhmaį¹esu vÄ brÄhmaį¹asammatÄ, na ca panete Äyasmanto sÄmaƱƱatthaį¹ vÄ brahmaƱƱatthaį¹ vÄ diį¹į¹heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ upasampajja viharanti. I donāt deem them as true ascetics and brahmins. Those venerables donāt realize the goal of life as an ascetic or brahmin, and donāt live having realized it with their own insight.
