“Sumuttikā sumuttikā,
I’m well freed, well freed,
“Well released, well released,
Sādhumuttikāmhi musalassa;
so very well freed from the pestle!
I am well released and free from the pestle.
Ahiriko me chattakaṁ vāpi,
My shameless husband popped up like a mushroom,
I am shielded from my shameless husband
Ukkhalikā me deḍḍubhaṁ vāti.
my mortar wafted like eels.
and from the kettle that hisses like a water snake.
Rāgañca ahaṁ dosañca,
Greed and hate sizzle and hiss
Hiss! Hiss! I destroy
Cicciṭi cicciṭīti vihanāmi;
as I squelch them.
passion and aversion.
Sā rukkhamūlamupagamma,
Having gone to the root of a tree,
Having gone to the root of a tree,
Aho sukhanti sukhato jhāyāmī”ti.
I meditate happily, thinking, “Oh, what bliss!”
‘O bliss!’ I happily meditate.”
