Ekamantaį¹ į¹hitÄ kho sÄ devatÄ bhagavato santike imaį¹ gÄthaį¹ abhÄsi: Standing to one side, that deity recited this verse in the Buddhaās presence: Standing to one side, that devatÄ recited this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:
āNandati puttehi puttimÄ, āChildren bring you delight! āOne who has sons delights in sons,
GomÄ gohi tatheva nandati; Cattle also bring you delight! One with cattle delights in cattle.
UpadhÄ«hi narassa nandanÄ, For attachments are a manās delight; Acquisitions truly are a manās delight;
Na hi so nandati yo nirÅ«padhÄ«āti. without attachments thereās no delight.ā Without acquisitions one does not delight. ā
