ā€œÄ€nāpānassati, bhikkhave, bhāvitā bahulÄ«katā mahapphalā hoti mahānisaį¹sā. ā€œMendicants, when mindfulness of breathing is developed and cultivated itā€™s very fruitful and beneficial.

Kathaį¹ bhāvitā ca, bhikkhave, ānāpānassati kathaį¹ bahulÄ«katā mahapphalā hoti mahānisaį¹sā? And how is mindfulness of breathing developed and cultivated to be very fruitful and beneficial?

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ānāpānassatisahagataį¹ satisambojjhaį¹…gaį¹ bhāveti vivekanissitaį¹ virāganissitaį¹ nirodhanissitaį¹ vossaggapariį¹‡Ämiį¹, Itā€™s when a mendicant develops mindfulness of breathing together with the awakening factors of mindfulness,

ānāpānassatisahagataį¹ dhammavicayasambojjhaį¹…gaį¹ bhāveti ā€¦peā€¦ investigation of principles, energy, rapture, tranquility, immersion,

ānāpānassatisahagataį¹ upekkhāsambojjhaį¹…gaį¹ bhāveti vivekanissitaį¹ virāganissitaį¹ nirodhanissitaį¹ vossaggapariį¹‡Ämiį¹. and equanimity, which rely on seclusion, fading away, and cessation, and ripen as letting go.

Evaį¹ bhāvitā kho, bhikkhave, ānāpānassati evaį¹ bahulÄ«katā mahapphalā hoti mahānisaį¹sāā€ti. Mindfulness of breathing, when developed and cultivated in this way, is very fruitful and beneficial.ā€
